Laura Allen is a Lincoln native and has known from an early age that she wanted to be a speech therapist. She received bother her bachelor and masters degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Speech-Language Pathology. Since that time, she has had the opportunity to work with students of all ages, from early childhood to high school. Laura lives with her husband, Shawn, and their two young boys, Max and Brody (and don't forget about Bessie the pug!). She enjoys spending time with family and friends, cheering on the Huskers, and watching an occasional movie or two. |

Although it doesn't seem possible, I am beginning my 26th year in education. I began my career as a K-12 special education teacher. I obtained a Masters degree in Counseling and my Specialist degree in School Psychology at UNK. While attending graduate school, I taught undergraduate classes and worked on the adolescent unit of a psychiatric hospital. I have also been the Director of Educational Therapy at a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents on the psychiatric and chemical dependency units. I provided school psychology services for rural schools in central NE, and was also a mental health therapist in private practice. Prior to moving to Lincoln, I worked for ESU 10 in Kearney as a School Psychologist. I am married and have two grown step-children and one grown son. They reside in College Station, TX, Chicago, and Kearney. In my 'spare' time, I enjoy stamping (making cards, projects, and scrapbooking), reading, and being outdoors. I love to travel and spend time with family and friends. I look forward to working with the Lakeview staff and family. |
