Hello! This is my third year as a teacher within LPS. I am so excited that I have the opportunity to teach the wonderful children at Lakeview Elementary School. I think this is going to be a great school year.
I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and attended Omaha Public Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. In 2000, I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Journalism in Advertising. After spending a few years in the Marketing and Advertising world, I decided to go back to college and get a teaching degree. In December 2004, I received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I married my husband, Kyle, in March 2005 and moved to Lincoln shortly thereafter. We are now expecting our first child. How EXCITING!! |

After graduating from Hastings College in 1998, I taught English, speech, and drama at Palmyra High School. I was also the forensics coach and the director of the school’s one act and main stage play productions. Last year, I started graduate work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha to become a library media specialist. I am a graduate assistant at UNO, working in the College of Education’s computer lab, and I will be the library media specialist here at Lakeview on Tuesdays. My husband, Kory, and I bought a home in Lincoln four years ago, and always seem to have some sort of home renovation project underway. When we’re not covered in paint or dry wall spackling, we enjoy camping, hiking, movies, time with friends, and traveling. We have a lively Yorkshire terrier, named Riley, who loves to chase squirrels and to curl up on my lap while I’m reading. I devour books, and always welcome suggestions, although I have to admit that I’ve been catching up on picture books and children’s literature over the summer. If you know of any ‘must read’ children’s books, please share! I look forward to meeting you, either at school or at one of our evening reading activities, like One Book, One Family or at one of our Starbucks nights. Until then, keep reading‚Ķyou never know what you may discover. |

Hi, my name is Sheila Nelson. I grew up on a ranch south of Valentine (I love those Sandhills). Art and I have been married for 25 years and we have three daughters: Jana, 23, Katie, 20, and Maggie, 18. Last spring we were blessed with two granddaughters, Kayla and Hanna. I began my teaching career in Australia. After two years, I returned to the States and began teaching at Lakeview in 1978. During that time I have taught most of the grades plus science and computer. I began teaching Reading Recovery and literacy support in 1997. Lakeview is the best school to be at because it is small enough to get to know all the students. The students and families are fantastic to work with. |
