One Book-One Family will meet again for the last time this year on May 13th for age-appropriate, family reading activities within the school. The first 25 families registered are enjoying the opportunity to meet monthly for a quick meal and activities dealing with the book distributed the month prior.
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is a new program at Lakeview that is underway. Lakeview is looking for male role models interested in participating in this experience. Watch D.O.G.S. volunteer at the school in classrooms and around the building at least once during the course of the year from approximately 9 AM to 3:45 PM. Lakeview’s Cinco de Mayo Family Night on May 5th from 5-7 PM will feature fun night games, a dunking booth, entertainment, food, and health fair booths. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to spend an enjoyable evening with family and friends at Lakeview Elementary School.
Lakeview will be hosting a Lincoln Parks & Recreation Summer Day Camp this summer called “Spring Training.” This Summer Day Camp will be available to registered students from 7 AM to 6 PM daily June 2nd - August 8th. Join us for fun recreational sports, fitness activities, a healthy food and nutrition segment, and a better understanding of sports strategy. Registrations are available at the school, or can be made by calling the Lincoln Parks & Recreation Playgrounds office at 441-7952.
The next School Neighborhood Advisory Committee (SNAC) meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13th from 4:15 to 5:15 PM @ Lakeview Elementary School in the Staff Lounge.
SMART (Shaping Minds And Rebuilding Tomorrow) meets for the last time with 4th & 5th grade girls on April 25th.This after school club for girls provides an opportunity for hands on learning experiences with art, reading, writing, career exploration, science, math, social skills, and related technologies while having a fun time in a safe environment
Cub Scouts for 2nd-5th grade boys continues meeting on Thursdays and will wrap up activities on May 15th. Cub Scouts is a program designed for boys with a focus on educational experience concerned with values. Scouting activities are designed to build character, physical fitness, practical skills, and service.
4-H meets for the last time on April 28th. 4-H’s approach of using experiential learning to develop practical and life skills is directly aligned with the CLC’s objective of “building personal, social, and leadership skills.”
“Girls on the Run” continues to meet on Wednesdays & Fridays from 3:45-4:45 PM in preparation for their 5K on May 24th. Girls will play interactive running games that incorporate lessons on valuable life skills - teamwork, health, wellness, communication and goal-setting - so participants get much more than exercise!
The Mind & Design Art Club is meeting on Fridays 3:38-4:45 PM through May 16th. This club gives 3rd-5th graders the opportunity to gain additional information pertaining to the basics of art, digital photography, graphic design, and preparing for an art show. Select projects from this opportunity will be displayed at the 1st Friday Art Walk on May 2nd!
“Bursting with Talent” will continue to meet through May 20th. Lakeview’s Talent Show is scheduled for April 30th from 7-8:30 PM in the multipurpose room / cafeteria.
Rec. Sports is being offered again this year, but only during the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters. This sports-related activity will continue on Wednesdays through May 21st. Rec. Sports offers the opportunity to learn the skills and rules of traditional and non-traditional sports while focusing on the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.
“Skittles” Chess Club will continue to meet on Wednesdays through April 30th. “Skittles” is the name they have given to playing casual games of chess. As in the past, this activity will provide students with the opportunity to learn about the game of chess and the many skills and strategies involved that make for a fun game to play with friends and family. Keep your eyes peeled for an Everett Chess Tournament registration. They have invited the Lakeview Skittles Chess Club to participate in this local event on May 17th where they hope to see some new faces.
Podcast 101 is an opportunity for 3rd-5th grade students to learn how to collect, store, and playback digital media files on portable media players and personal computers. Join Mrs. Horejsi and Mr. Fink in this effort to compile audio scripts that will be posted online via the Lakeview website for your listening pleasure. “Podcast 101” will meet for the last time on April 28th.
